Experiences and Activities with Horses:

Our Workshops and programs are all facilitated by Ellie, and are tailored to the individual or group. All exercises occur on the ground, there is no riding, and no horse experience is necessary. We emphasize the importance of understanding and honoring the horse’s way of communicating, exploring approaches to relationship and leadership that are collaborative, not based on domination.

A. Introductory sessions center around experiencing these key elements:

1. Set an intention or question for the session, often before arriving at the ranch
2. Arrive for a brief introduction to the land, check in with Ellie
3. Tune in with the land and horses: relax and become present and grounded,
4. Observing the horses in the pasture or arena:
   • explore concepts of energy, boundaries and relationship
   • understand the horses’ signals and subtle communication
5. Interacting with a horse in a reflective way in the round pen or arena:
   • Present your question or intention to the horse, allow information to emerge as you experience the horse’s style of communication
   • practice “being not doing”
   • tune into to your intuition to receive inspiration or information

B. More advanced sessions build on our knowledge of how a horse responds to energy and body language gathered from the introductory session.

1. Interacting with a horse(s) in an active way:
   • Playing “at liberty” with no halter on the horse, experiment with your “energy signature”: the horse will give you feedback when you (or you and your partner) set your intention and actively ask the horse to respond to your request. The horse’s response might provide valuable information about how others in your work or home life are responding to your requests, often providing insights about your leadership style and aspects of personal relationships. This  information can help you recognize and shift unproductive patterns.
   • Partnering with the horse with halter and lead line creates another opportunity to set an intention and explore leadership style. In their degree of willingness to partner and move willingly with us they demonstrate how clear we are in our commitment, responding positively if our intention is clear and fully embodied.
